Our Guild Activities
Guild Activities are truly at the heart of what the Common Threads Quilt Guild is all about. We host many different activities that center around the Guild’s purpose (read it here on the About Us page).
These activities are some of the things we have available to participate in with one another.
Challenge Quilt
Our Challenge Quilt is typically an annual project that allows participating guild mates to you use their creativity and imagination. The challenge is presented to the members in March of each year with a theme and parameters. Participants will reveal their entries at the November Guild Meeting and attending guild mates will vote on the best projects.
Block Swaps: Working Together on Projects
Throughout the year, guild mates may choose to participate in various block swaps. Block swaps vary on project types, finished sizes, requirements, difficulty level, pattern or theme and fabric types. Participants typically end up with a lot of great blocks with which to create a quilt or project.
Unsewn Swaps: Sharing & Growing Fabric Stashes
Within our Unsewn Swaps, there are a few options for guild mates to participate to grow (and share from) their fabric piles. We have an Annual Birthday Swap (for which sign-ups occur October & November of the year before) and a monthly fabric lotto with a different theme each iteration.
Guild Sew Along: Moda Blockheads 2
We’ll be doing a fun Guild Sew Along in 2023 via Zoom. This year it will be using the free Moda Blockheads 2 as the basis for the blocks, and will be led by Mary Hoffman. If you are unable to attend the Zoom, notes will be shared.
